Ankle Boots That Aren't Atrocious

Ankle Boots That Aren't Atrocious

A few weeks ago, I asked you guys what you thought was the most ridiculous fashion trend for Fall 2006. The resounding winner? Ankle boots, the suddenly ubiquitous style that falls somewhere between a boot and a pump. To be honest, I can't really blame you. Most ankle boots—like these teal Report Rosetta Boots, available here for $183.95—have an awkward and ridiculous shape, as if they're designed to make you fall forward on your face.

The good news is that if you're brave enough to try the ankle boots trend, there are plenty of cute options out there. Here are my picks for non-atrocious ankle boots.

DKNY Annabella Ruched Bootie, $325, available here.

Sigerson Morrison 6633 Boot, $598.95, available here.

Four more options, plus budget buys, so

John Fluevog Giulia Boot, $262.95, available here.

Kenzie Fosgate Ankle Boot, $99.95, available here.

Nine West Leslie Boot, $49.97, available here.

BCBGirls Katleen Boot, $118.95, available here.

Yes yes yes... I am all over the ankle boots...I have a pair and plan to get more especially the first ones above in blue. The white ones are cute also but I would prefer them in another colour. The rest are a bit dull.

Fug! I don't like ankle boots...they remind me of 80's fashion. All you need is an oversized sweater cinched with a belt and some leggings.

I like my ankle boots but I dont like ankle boots. Its a weird thing. I just think its as tacky as long socks but under jeans there cool.

I just can't get back into ankle boots like these.. I am having horrible 80's flash backs..some trends really don't need to be revisited.

if your in college or your budget doesn't always allow for these prices. I am personally impressed with target's and playless's ankle boots on their websites!

IMO, i think wearing these is really just following a trend, not necessairly something that you like, but something that you wear just bc it's in

most of them are fugly in my humble opinion..only the last ones were nice. Look incomfy as hell.. but that's not new in the shoe-business (haha I'm such a dork). with a nice pair of jeans I'd try them. As some of you stated above, it's sad cause you can't wear them with a skirt without looking weird

the only ones i would wear are the nine west ones bc over jeans, no one would know they were ankle boots!

The John Fluevogs remind me of that nasty Victorian boot posted in love it or hate it a while back. Just the styling is reminiscent of that hideosity.

hmm... still not really feeling this particular trend. i think much of it is also how it is worn - i.e. i can see wearing these with long pants but not really with skirts. and then there is that horrible image of paris at the vma's wearing stupid ankle boots still floating around my head. that's not helping me liking this one bit.
