While other designers have opted for light, bright, airy, and floral Spring 2014 collections, Ann Demeulemeester went dark. Her dusky and romantic collection, presented in Paris on Thursday, was filled with dark colors, sheer fabrics, and gothic black-and-white prints. Adding to the feeling of mystery present in this offering, all of the models wore veils that fluttered as they came down the runway.
When Demeulemeester did go floral, she applied velvety red and black appliques to sheers that she cut skillfully into leggings and dresses. In keeping with the veiled feeling of these clothes, those pieces show just enough to get your attention, but hide enough to preserve a sense of intrigue.
