Guess How Much Annie Leibovitz's Home Just Sold For?
At long last, Annie Leibovitz's New York home has a new owner. The Real Deal reported on Wednesday that Leibovitz's compound of New York townhouses sold this week for $28.5 million. And while it's nothing to sneeze at, the final price is $4.5 million less than the original $33 million asking price.
For that price, the new owners will get three townhouses at the corner of New York's West 11th and Greenwich streets, which are surrounded by a private garden. Leibovitz bought the first two homes in 2002 and the third a year later. Since then, she's renovated and connected all three homes, which have seven bedrooms and 13 wood-burning fireplaces among them. Two of them now serve as living quarters; the third hosts a photo studio with its own kitchen and reception area.
Brown Harris Stevens originally listed the 10,000-square-foot home for $33 million in December 2012, then dropped the price to $29 million last April. After the house failed to sell, Leibovitz relisted it with the Corcoran Group for $29.9 million in September.
