Aerie's Unretouched Campaign Will Make You Feel Powerful in a Bikini
For the past two years, American Eagle Outfitters' sister brand Aerie has made a commitment for its campaigns: to be 100 percent real — as in no Photoshop. For many brands, airbrushing images to "perfection" is standard, but for Aerie, a brand popular for its lingerie and swimwear, showing real women's bodies is what's important.
Last season, the brand tapped actress Emma Roberts to star in its unretouched photos. For its latest ads, the brand chose 19-year-old Wilhelmina model Barbie Ferreira. Barbie poses in the brand's colorful swim separates and looks absolutely flawless.
Barbie also stars in a video for the brand, in which she discusses the #aerieREAL campaign concept. "Not being retouched in the images is something that is very important to me," she said. "People knowing that that's what I look like without anyone's perception of what my body needs to look like." Watch the inspiring video below, then shop a few of the brand's new swim styles.
