Biba is hardly a household name in the United States, but across the pond, the British retailer is legendary. Founded in 1964 by Barbara Hulanicki, Biba started as a hip and exclusive London boutique and by the 1970s had grown into a fashionable department store attracting fans such as Mick Jagger, Twiggy, and Racquel Welch. Much like Topshop today, the store was both fashion-forward and affordable to the masses.
Biba closed in 1975, but now designer Bella Freud is relaunching the label, starting with a recent Spring 2007 runway show at London Fashion Week. The clothes are somewhat higher priced this time around but also highly reminiscent of 1960s and '70s London cool. To check out the new Biba line,
