This Bride Embroidered Her Entire Love Story Onto Her Wedding Gown

While many brides have specifications when searching for a wedding dress, rarely do they actually design one themselves. Bride Kresha Bajaj took the challenge of creating her own wedding lehenga — a traditional Indian skirt — one step further by detailing her entire love story on the skirt.

"As I knew my Wedding lehenga would be something I would only wear once, I decided to make it a piece of artwork that I would later frame," she wrote on her Instagram.

After studying embroidery techniques, Kresha created the lehenga one kali (or panel) at a time. Each kali contained intricate frames that detailed how she and groom Vanra Zaver met, the couple's major milestones, the proposal, and other moments leading up to the wedding.

If you look closely at the stunning skirt, you can see that the couple's names are embroidered in a repeating chevron pattern and the hem depicts jumping dolphins, "which was the beginning of our story as we worked together on a protest against cetacean captivity," she said.

The bride, who also happens to be a fashion designer, revealed in her blog post that the creation took months to make. She chose a gold and white theme because her fiancé wanted the colors and wished for the outfit to be traditional. Like any trendsetter, Kresha also wanted to make sure her own personality came through in the wedding gown.

"I managed to make my lehenga beautiful and traditional, but at the same time it was exactly as edgy, unconventional, and firmly Koecsh as I wanted to be," she wrote.

In the end, not only did the bride look beautiful and confident in her wedding gown, but Kresha's creation will also be a treasured piece in her closet for years to come. Ahead, see all the skirt embroideries and final look for yourself, and watch all the details unfold in the video below.
