With all eyes on Candice Swanepoel as she took the runway at Friday's Givenchy show [1], the supermodel lost her footing and stumbled head first onto the catwalk. OK, she didn't just stumble, she fell. She fell right into the middle of the runway as the music played on in the background and models continued to strut forward behind her.
If you watch the video of her fall here, or even if you're just picturing it now, you can probably feel the embarrassment akin to the epic moment Carrie Bradshaw went down on the runway and quickly became "fashion roadkill." Just imagine an entire room of fashion insiders and celebrities, like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West [2] and Anna Wintour, watching Candice hit the pavement and wondering just how she might recover. Well, like Carrie, Candice recovered from her real-life Fashion Week [3] snafu with grace and poise — and a little help from the gentlemen in the front row. Scroll through and let this just be a reminder to us all: despite the glamour and the gloss, supermodels are humans too — humans trying to walk in teetering high heels down a slick runway in front of a crowded room of people judging them. That's no easy task.
