Come Fab Finding With Me: A Fab Turkey Dinner

You're hosting Thanksgiving dinner at your house this year and you want everything to go perfectly. It's an intimate affair, only family and close friends, since Thanksgiving is really about being with those who mean the most to you.

You want to keep it casual but still look Fab, since you're playing hostess. I'll start you off with this Missoni Zigzag Scarf, $250, because it's in festive Fall colors! Come back and tell me when your Fab Finds are up and tag them turkey dinner.

Now, you can build outfits by creating a list of clothing items. We have everything you need to build outfits with and you can use your Fab Find bookmarks too. This is an even better way to put together an entire outfit when you are completing your Fab Finding missions.

I don't cook the dinner, so I planned an outfit for eating at the family's. That's why I included the jacket. But of course, if it's warm inside the jacket can come off.

Hi gals, I started you off with the scarf with the intention that you might put it on when you did the post-Thankgiving dinner family walk or when you go outside to greet your arriving guests! I wouldn't expect you to wear it while cooking or eating — you're right, that would be silly — I was just hoping that you would put a whole look together, including outerwear! Hope that helps! xo, Fab

Forget just the overheating, the scarf is going to fall right INTO the turkey when you go to pull it out of the oven. BEAUTIFUL scarf (I want one!), but completely impractical for hosting Thanksgiving. Even after the cooking is done, you'd probably get mashed potatoes on the scarf just from carrying all the dishes to the table, and it would be kind of unclassy to serve everything, everyone sits down, and then you pull out the scarf and toss it on. Something tells me Fab hasn't hosted too many Thanksgiving dinners on her own. ;) Leave the scarf for the after-Thanksgiving walk around the block to make more room for dessert!

I went with a very casual list because we are the hostess here and running around comfortable is key. I have to agree, Fab what is with the scarf inside while cooking?

Here is my list then:

I chose to concentrate on pulling out several key colors in the scarf such as gray, purple, teal/dark blue, orange-red, and cream. The shirt is thin enough so you won't get hot while cooking, the jeans are comfortable, and the flats have a little embellishment on them to jazz up the outfit. The earrings pull out the reddish colors, and the sweater is for when you are done eating and you want to relax while finishing up your cocktail or hot chocolate.

This is what I considered in biulding this outfit: Personally, I need dark clothes when eating, because I always manage to spill something. Also, I wanted a looser shirt and higher pants, to help hide a very full tummy. Also, the sweater is cute, but you won't be too warm inside when also wearing the scarf. Simple earrings and flats, because its a casual affair. If you do have to venture outside, this coat goes well with the other items. And finally, this bag, because I can't get enough of it!

I tried to address the temperature dilemma everyone's talking about by giving layers. These are pretty basic/comfy pieces...I'd wear it!

i love missoni don't get me wrong, but $250 is a lot for one scarf and if i were to cook all day, i would not want a scarf on. (maybe after i cooled off a bit.)

Personally, when I host Thanksgiving dinners, the last thing I want on my neck in my own house when I'm running all over the place is a wool/acrylic scarf that costs $250. Seriously. We have heat on in the house and lots of people to cause body heat. I'm not serving the turkey dinner in my backyard. That aside, Syako I love your outfit...I would definitely wear that. Whiplash, love the dress, and it goes great with the scarf. I would wear that if I was going to someone else's house :)

My family is really casual for Thanksgiving. So I chose the J Brand love story denim but in the mocha color to dress it up a bit (btw, i have a similar pair but they're cords! love them). I picked the cute cropped cardigan because it's so in right now, but wearing the splendid striped tee underneath it brings it a little more casual AND makes it really easy to take off when eating and still look darling. The boots have just a small heel but lots of personality. I love the colors in the Missoni scarf and I think this outfit works well to bring them all out. I didn't put any jewelry or handbags, because ultimately you'll be at your place with your peeps and who needs all that fuss, right?
