Come Fab Finding With Me: Fashion Internship First Day Outfit

Congratulations! You've finally landed your dream internship at a major fashion house. But before you can start reviewing your job responsibilities, you must track down the most fashionable first day ensemble ever! Clothes, bag, shoes, jewelry; nothing can be overlooked. After all, first impressions are everything, especially in the fashion industry.

I will start you off with this MAXX New York Bridle Chrome Large Bowler, $148, because it's affordable (remember, you're not getting paid) and edgy. Plus, it's big enough to fit everything you'll be schlepping across town.

Come back and tell me when your Fab Finds are up and tag them with fashion internship.

Oh! Now, you can build outfits by creating a list of clothing items. We have everything you need to build outfits with and you can use your Fab Find bookmarks too. This is an even better way to put together an entire outfit when you are completing your Fab Finding missions.

Here's another one! I used tights to take away from the mini-skirt which isn't really office appropriate. But this is fashion!

Daddio I really love yours, and Syako, your first one is great! I love the stripped sweater dress, very Edie-esq.

I think the 2 important things for your fashion internship look should be: -comfort: you will be working, and being a fashion intern myself I know that you will most likely do ALL types of work. -personal style: you want to look the part, but even more, you dont want to look like you just walked out of a fashion magazine. you want to show that show that you can be a trendsetter - NOT a trend follower. Thats why I created this list, that is a mix of different styles, different shops, mixing the old with the new, the cheap with the expensive, etc. Hope you like it!

I always try to BUY items for my wardrobe spread out among paychecks, so I'm not spending a lot at once.

I tried to keep in mind that cost would be a factor. However, if you are working in a major fashion house or magazine, you are going to want to have some designer labels in your wardrobe. Mixing some designer pieces along with lesser priced brands is the option that I took. More expensive blouse - $203, pants - $68, moderately priced accessories: shoes $120, ring and earrings together $114. It's a lot for me to spend on an outfit, I know that I couldn't afford it, but this is for fun and if you like any of the outfits, there is usually a lower cost alternative out there. I always try to by items for my wardrobe spread out among paychecks, so I'm not spending a lot at once. Plus, you never know what kind of freebies you'll get once you start the job!

This one plays up the metallic theme a bit more - still on a budget, though one piece is quite a splurge - the ella moss top, but it's SO worth it, right? :) Around $350 for the whole outfit...

That bag is very fab!

The outfit - minus the purse - comes to about $220. AND all the pieces are great to wear many many different ways - therefore money well spent.

There comes a time in life where you will want to whip out $100-$200 on something that you'll get a lot of use out of and is timeless/classic. So although this purse may not be "affordable" for all, sometimes spending a little bit extra is worth it because you get better fabric and much better quality. As much as I love my Target handbags, they just don't have the staying power as a handbag that I spent a little bit more on. Just a thought.

Maybe I'm just cheap but that bag is not affordable to me (and I'm not an intern!) though it is lust-worthy. It might make a good Christmas present from hubby... (hint!) :)
