The story of how I first stumbled upon the NYC-based brand DeerDana is actually a funny one. Halloween [1] was around the corner and my mission was to find an amazing t-shirt for my boyfriend and myself of Larry David [2] (aka our hero). (We basically wanted to dress up as Larry so we could spend the entire night giving people his infamous stare-down from Curb Your Enthusiasm when they asked who we were dressed up as.)
What ended up happening was that I spent what seemed like hours scrolling through DeerDana's amazing collection of celeb illustrated tees trying to decide which one I wanted. (Side note: I did buy the Larry David tees for us, but we ended up using them for everyday wear.) That's the amazing part about its t-shirts: they're versatile enough to wear as an everyday tee without feeling too kitschy or, ironically, Halloween-y.
Everything DeerDana makes is hand-printed and made in LA, while the designs are drawn by hand in NYC. The brand even caught the attention of Madewell back in 2015, which led to this ridiculously cute collaboration [3]. More recently, DeerDana teamed up with actresses/sisters Kate and Rooney Mara to create a t-shirt to help endangered chimpanzees. Either way, DeerDana has something for everyone with a variety of celebrity and fashion folk illustrations ranging from Yves Saint Laurent to Naomi Campbell [4]. It even has a "Bad Girl RiRi" bandana (love!) and a Cindy Crawford [5] beach towel. Have a look at some of its amazing items here.
