all the time depending on the fabric. If it's cashmere, eh, depending on how much I paid for it, I'd dry clean it - or not buy it. Suits are definitely for dry cleaning, but everything else, soak it in handwashing liquids with cold water or just toss in laundry with cold water (even wool) and just lay flat to dry or hang up. Fabrics most usually shrink from heat.

yes. frequently. unless it's a special fabric, i do it all the time. I wash it, then steam it back to it's shape, and line dry it. I've only had a problem once with a suit jacket, and even then it was just the lining.

I never read care labels on new clothing unless I paid $$ or more for it..if its cheap I always just wash them regular...I hve a few tops that say dry clean from 15dollar ....I washed them regular and they were not spoilt...

well, i used hand wash for some of my cloths i used baby shampoo which has no chemical, i found it useful, and non of my washed item got damaged. specially white silk blouses, recently i tried washing Ann Demeulemeester white silk tunic, which suppose to be only dry clean, nothing happened , it got so clean and remmain in same shape , i am really happy with the result , but i never tried multi color cloths.

Absolutely. But not everything. Silks and some dresses def need actual dry cleaning. But I've found most things can be hand washed and air dried flat without any damage.

in my experience, washing "dry clean only" clothes causes extreme shrinkage. i read the labels very carefully now!

Sometimes I do with cheap stuff, but I've accidentally done it before, and learned my lesson right then...I just pay for the dry cleaning because I don't want to ruin the expensive peices I own

i do it often with forever21 items. i never looked at the care tags when buying things from that store, and a lot of it is dry clean - why on earth would i spend almost as much money to clean a shirt as i did to buy it? absolutely not. and none of the clothes from there EVER suffered from being handwashed and hang dried.

guilty. I did it once and you know what? Nothing happened. I won't do it again though.

Yes, I def handwash...except for my pants. I am too cheap to pay $6+ to get a dress/top dry cleaned. It adds up!

only by accident.

After I've done it once before, I will NEVER wash a dry clean only item ever again.
