This Is Really Happening — All of These Adidas Shoes Are on Sale

Fab Ad: Jean Paul Gaultier Fall/Winter 2007

I have to say, these ads are pretty intense. Believe it or not, that's Gemma Ward under there. I'm not sure how I feel about the muzzle-like knit on her face - I'm sure it has some underlying meaning, but I don't like the symbolism of a woman being muzzled. Especially because I'm not sure what it has to do with the collection's theme: the Scottish highlands. The clothes on the other hand - you know I am loving plaids right now and Gaultier continues to be a mastermind in that department. What do you all think?!

The ads were shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, and more from this campaign can be seen here.

It's fun to look at. Wearable, probably not. Maybe a piece here and there. But who cares! It's runway!

Whatever Gautier, too dramatic. Focus on the clothing next time.

leeluvfashion: I believe it is, I saw these ads on another site about Boyd. And I have to agree with everyone else, they're quite creepy! But they certainly catch your attention!

I don't get it and the clothing looks ugly. Would never wear anything like it.

*yawn* in a world where torture porn has taken over movies, and nothing is shocking anymore, Jean Paul is becoming obselete and this is his last gasp.

I actually think the muzzle is more a political allusion than a masochistic one. I think they're trying to make a statement about the state of free speech rather than trying to create a real subversive image. The muzzle is extremely strage looking, but at least it doesn't look physically painful. It does bother me that the man isn't wearing one though, although maybe that's part of the concept as it's more common/socially acceptable for men to make their opinions and ideas heard.

Too strange for me! Is the guy Boyd Holbrook? Looks like it to me but I'm unsure.

Gasp... This surprised me, then grossed me out for a sec. I like the fashion/art/creativity connection but I also like there to be something functional behind fashion.
