On a scale from one to 10, our excitement to see the major trends coming out of Paris Fashion Week [1] is always an 11. The city's venerable roster of designers makes the runways the most hotly anticipated of the whole season — and the looks they send down the catwalk quickly become our fashion fodder (and Pinterest catnip) for the whole year. Such is the case with the list of Fall 2015 trends: classics — like the miniskirt — revisited with a chic new vision, or retro throwbacks made current — like a wearable twist on patchwork. It takes the artistry of design heavyweights like Karl Lagerfeld, Isabel Marant, and Stella McCartney to transform the everyday into extraordinary new styles, but season after season, they deliver. Just scroll to see what they have in store for Fall, or jump to a single trend below.

All One-Sided
For Fall, designers set their sights on a subtler way to reveal skin — it's all about baring a little arm and shoulder with fresh asymmetrical cuts that run the gamut from easy daytime pieces to sexier night-out styles.

Get Waisted
The emphasis is on the waist, thanks to higher-rise bottoms and wide belts. Take it to the extreme, as Stella McCartney did with paper-bag drawstrings, or highlight your middle with a structured corset, à la Givenchy. There's no better way to draw attention to — or fake! — an hourglass shape.

Fringe Benefits
The benefits of dramatic, cool-girl fringe were apparent everywhere on the Fall '15 runways, from sophisticated sheaths gone sexier with a fringed skirt at Nina Ricci to jaw-dropping iterations at Chanel. It may just be our favorite way to make a statement.

The Right to Bare Stems
While miniskirts have had their heyday, thanks to a resurgence of '70s style, the Fall runways were all about the right to bare stems. Minis dominated the designers' collections, from date-night-perfect dresses to daytime iterations, balanced with high necklines.

Opulent Florals
A decidedly luxe print seemed to take over the Fall collections in Paris — floral patterns, made all the more opulent with brocade fabrics and embellished finishes. Some seemed to have their roots in Asian-inspired art while others were more abstract. In every case, their statement-making prowess was undeniable.

Pretty, Pretty Pastels
Soft shades made their mark, with designers showcasing pretty pastels throughout the Paris shows. Sure, they're the quieter cousins of primary hues, but these colors amped up separates, suiting, and ladylike sheaths with their surprise factor.

Get to Patchwork
Taking retro patchworks to new heights, designers presented bold, technicolor patterns, reworked the fabrics on sharp suiting and coats, and proved that this may just be Fall's most unexpectedly cool print.

Check Me Out
These aren't the plaids you remember from grade school. Designers gave the pattern grown-up appeal with tweedy finishes and sophisticated cuts. From wide windowpane checks to buffalo plaid, this classic Fall pattern just got a fashion-forward upgrade.
