Gianni Versace's former Miami home is officially off the market. Casa Casuarina sold at auction for $41.5 million on Monday to a business group that includes the owners of the Jordache denim label.
The 10-bedroom mansion was originally listed for $125 million in June 2012 then later reduced to $75 million. Prospective bidders were asked to prove that they had $40 million in funds on hand and were required to escrow $3 million with the current owner's firm — a small price to pay for the storied site of a number of Versace's Versace-est moments.
"Every room is a work of art,'' said Jill Eber, the real estate agent who listed the house last year. "If the person buying it is not already a celebrity, it gives them instant celebrity status — if they want it."
