H&M Launches Global Recycling Program

H&M Launches a Global Clothing Recycling Program

Fast fashion and recycling don't usually go hand in hand, but H&M is making a (green) effort with the announcement of a global recycling program called ICollect. Beginning February, ICollect boxes will be placed in all H&M stores around the world for customers to donate bags of used clothing — in any condition — which will then be recycled and made into new textiles. As an added perk and incentive, the retailer is offering a 15-percent discount off any item of clothing when you donate. "Our sustainability efforts are rooted in a dedication to social and environmental responsibility," said CEO Karl-Johan Persson. "We want to do good for the environment, which is why we are now offering our customers a convenient solution: to be able to leave their worn out or defective garments with H&M." The brand has reportedly tested out the ICollect initiative in Switzerland for the past year, which garnered positive results. To top it all off, the brand is aiming to use only sustainable cotton in all of its collections by 2020. Are you impressed by H&M's eco-conscious efforts?
