Ladies, it's time to relax. Jason Wu loosened up for Spring 2014, juxtaposing lingerie-inspired pieces and body-conscious, bias-cut gowns with cool-girl jumpsuits and safari vests that were distinctly on the slouchy side. The show opened with an extended series of white pieces, with floating chiffon dresses over bra tops and a loose knit over a laced pencil skirt. Wu kept the volume down on the color palette, following up with the palest dove grays, mint greens, baby pinks, and — finally — a mix of military blue and, of course, black. Lacing replaced lace as a major motif, and Wu's much-loved bags took on an oversize dimension (chicest weekender ever). Evening was filled with bugle-beaded pieces and intricately pieced gowns that harked back to the '30s.
If Diane Kruger has her pick of first piece, as she often does, then we can imagine her gravitating toward the buckle-waist tuxedo jumpsuit, although we'll hold out hope that the showstopping gown worn by Karlie Kloss also goes to the actress for her next major red carpet.
