Just when you thought Kate Middleton had fully embraced coat season once again, the duchess threw us for a loop. Rather than choose one of her vibrant jackets for the Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer's Llamas film premiere, she selected a bright-blue space-inspired dress by designer Tabitha Webb.

The three-quarter-sleeved design, which retails at $575 and features the casual addition of pockets, was definitely unexpected — especially since Kate tends to stick to structured monochrome silhouettes — but that's why she's become one of our favorite fashion icons. The duchess has proven she's not afraid to try out a new print, especially if it means having a little fun with fashion.
