Madewell is having a pretty exciting month. Just weeks after announcing its first-ever sneaker collection [1], the brand launched its own sustainable swim collection on Feb. 26. Second Wave by Madewell [2] is a collection of 32 items — a mixture of one-pieces and bikinis — made using fabric composed of recyclable plastic, and each item is sold for under $100.
The fabric used gives a "second life" to the plastic that otherwise would have ended up in a landfill, hence the name "Second Wave." Every one-piece swimsuit featured in the collection saved eight plastic bottles, while four plastic bottles were saved per bikini.
