The Floral Gowns at Marchesa Were So Pretty, We Almost Thought the Roses Were Real

Feb 17 2016 - 4:24pm

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig don't design dresses for the girl who wants to blend into the wedding party or hide from the spotlight. The duo behind Marchesa roll out gowns for red carpet regulars [1] or the bride herself. You admire them on the likes of Blake Lively [2] and Penélope Cruz, and after watching them sweep across the Fall '16 runway [3], it's obvious: these designs aren't just about being seen, they're about being heard.

Rows of beaded fringe and wispy feathers shook, softly clinking as models passed by. Layered pearl necklaces and jeweled chandelier earrings were only a regal addition to the already-romantic looks — all of which were embellished with winking sequins or floral appliqué that appeared as though plucked from a real bouquet.

While it's safe to declare that all the silhouettes — from the knee-length cocktail numbers to the tulle princess gowns — were stunning, there were some memorable styles saturated with color and 3D flowers that you'll want to see again. Read on for a curation of this season's Marchesa rainbow, and just see if you can decide which shade is right for you.
