Much is written about Kanye West, but the designers at Maison Martin Margiela — who created the costumes for West's Yeezus tour — really do not care about what anyone else thinks of him.
"We have wanted to work with Kanye West for a very long time, ever since he became a close friend of the Maison, supporting us a lot and coming to our shows," a spokesperson for the house told Vogue UK. "We like his music and the vision he had for the tour."
The Margiela designers had a slightly easier time working with the rapper than APC's founder Jean Touitou, who famously said his collaboration with the rapper took "two years to create just three items."
"Everything went very smoothly since our first meetings with Kanye at the beginning of the year," the statement from Maison Martin Margiela said. "Kanye already performed in a crystal veil from our Fall 2012 couture collection during a show in Paris last year, so it was an obvious decision to integrate some of them into the wardrobe."
West's tour is scheduled to be in his hometown of Chicago this week and will end in Houston on Dec. 7.
