Michelle Obama [1] was the star of the show Tuesday as she celebrated International Women's Day in Washington DC by speaking to a group of young women in partnership with the Let Girls Learn initiative.

In a speech in which she touched on the late Nancy Reagan [2], Mrs. Obama also spoke about the day at hand and the girls surrounding her. "I truly see myself in these girls," she said [3]. "In their hunger, in their burning determination to rise above their circumstances and reach for something more." Her day also included visiting an art installation by Mr. Brainwash [4] and even doing some painting [5] of her own.

The inspiring tone of the afternoon was perfectly matched by the first lady's bright Spring dress. Among the many style lessons [6] we've learned from the elegant Mrs. Obama, one is to be optmistic about the season ahead.
