Back of This Week's Fab Favorite: Michelle Obama If you thought Michelle Obama's teal Maria Pinto sheath was Fab, get a load of her in Thakoon. When was the last time we saw a lady of politics in a print? And, a neckline with some flair? As well, you all know I love the red and purple color combination so I'd love this dress on anyone. But not just anyone wore it last night at the Democratic National Convention. This choice doesn't come as surprise to fashion followers. Not only was Michelle on Vanity Fair's International Best Dressed list this year, she has been wearing an interesting mix of designers like Isabel Toledo, Tom Binns, and White House Black Market — she is playing the fashion field. This Summer she attended a fund-raiser in her honor in New York where fashion folks Zac Posen, Iman, Tory Burch, Catherine Malandrino, and many more sang praise to the potential First Lady. But this Thakoon Resort printed sheath is stellar; it's unique, festive, and professional. Her minimal jewelry is a must with such a stand-alone dress and her black patent flats have Jackie O written all over them. To see more of Michelle in Thakoon at the convention, . Great-Sommelier 9 years Awww, thanks! bellaressa 9 years As I am taking a break ---brain is tired. I think pastels are great, its a trick to do them and people that can pull them off always look timeless. Great-Sommelier 9 years lol, you sound like my mom. She always has something positive to say. I am pink. Plain and simple. I can basically do pastels. bellaressa 9 years You, probably look better in cool colors that others couldn't pull off. That is sometimes nice as well, cool and pale colors. Great-Sommelier 9 years Bella, I think the color was nice too. I can't pull off those bright colors and get so jealous of those who can. bellaressa 9 years I actually like the coloring of the dress. I think whatever either wife wears she will be criticize no matter if people like it or hate it or whether they are from the opposing party. Great-Sommelier 9 years On another note, she looks good in color. The pink makes her skin glow. Great-Sommelier 9 years Michelle is in no way jackie. Kelliegrl 9 years I think she hits the right pitch for someone who's in the political scene. It's not too flashy, but she takes it a bit further than boring Washington political folks. mikeijames 9 years she's definitely channeling camelot with looks like these: and in thakoon!!! i love how conservative she's dressed while wearing such an insider -- if not edgy -- designer. i love how she's using fashion to combat attacks against her not having the right attitude and outlook to become first lady. her fashion choices alone don't let the republican party do to her what they did to teresa heinz kerry. in other news, cindy mccain's not looking half bad herself. and i love how hillary clinton and sarah palin have taken to suiting to convey that they're NOT first ladies, but executives in their own right.... hartsfull 9 years I think the dress is ugly. I'm baffled why she is being compared to Jackie. Cindy McCain is lovely, graceful, smart and definately dresses better. RCLdesigngirl 9 years Let's start a tally...how many more times will Michelle Obama be compared to Jackie Kennedy before the election? This is all political posturing, and quite frankly, I'm sick of it. She does not echo Jackie in any way, shape, or form. Repeating the same news story over and over again does not make it fact, no matter how hard we try. loveyoulots 9 years Yes, Fab I agree with shannydoots stay true to your blog and report what you want. Whenever some of the other political women find fashion and pull it off then report that otherwise it will be fake to just report their fashion because some people on here are sick of seeing Michelle. She looks nice her hair and makeup where fab and yes the hair was a bit more full but that was the statement of the hair style. It was big hair for a big event. shannydoots 9 years I love this look!!! Michelle looks beautiful in this dress. Sure, it may not be the most form-fitting or flattering dress, but honestly I think if it were people would criticize her for being too trendy and fashion-forward. Just saying... Anyway, to repeat what others have already said, I appreciate that she's been wearing both high and low-end designers. People should stop complaining that Fab hasn't covered Cindy McCain or Sarah Palin yet. Remember, this is a blog about fashion, not politics, so obviously Fab hasn't felt inspired by either woman's style yet. shalee55 9 years YUK swtcasey 9 years I like what she's wearing, it looks great on her. Frank-y-Ava 9 years I like the blue dresses better, but her hair was looking fabulous. Glittersniffer 9 years I wish the dress fit better, but I can get behind the idea. I'm surprised they chose pink as the color to coordinate between themselves, though, I had expected blue. Political symbolism and all. reactionary 9 years i think i like the idea of the dress more than the dress itself. the fact that we know she makes no apologies for herself or her personal style is something i admire - she's not going to done it down and wear something boring just because.. and i think it extends to her footwear as well. why wear heels? i think she's pretty fab. when the other political ladies start taking some fashion risks (print, anyone?), they too can make their way into fabsugar. soulight 9 years I love her and I love the dress. She is a great example of how you can be strong and feminine at the very same time. But with the way she carries herself she could pull off any look. Brownsuga1966 9 years I loved Michelle's dress great choice of colors for her and the girls. chellybean 9 years I agree she should have worn heels, but I think this look is fun. I wish she would wear her hair with less volume...or get a weave. chellybean 9 years Politics aside, Palin looks and dresses like a constipated beauty pageant last place finisher. What is with those horribly inappropriate red sequin platform sandals she is always wearing? What is she, 12? bigestivediscuit 9 years Cue the eyerolling! LOL ... I knew they would come out again in this post. Perhaps there are posts about Michelle Obama because this week was the Democratic National Convention? And perhaps Palin hasn't been covered yet because she was just announced Friday? Or perhaps Fab really should have covered Palin's choice of a rather understated black suit jacket for her acceptance yesterday. Anyways, back to the subject of the post, which is the DRESS, I liked the dress but like lms wish she had paired it with patent black heels instead.
