Birth Date: May 22, 1970
Naomi Campbell is the epitome of an übermodel — the term "supermodel" just doesn't seem to cut it. Campbell was born in South London, trained early on as a ballet dancer, was first featured in Bob Marley's "Is This Love" music video in 1978, and by 1986, she was scouted while window shopping in Covent Garden. Her career, which spans more than two decades, reads like a fashion bible, having posing for iconic photographers like Herb Ritts and Bruce Weber; worked with designers like Gianni Versace, Azzedine Alaïa, and Isaac Mizrahi; and graced countless covers. Campbell was also the first black model to cover Vogue Paris in 1988 — and the first black model to appear on the cover of American Vogue's September issue in 1989. More recently, she hit the runway alongside Kate Moss and other British models during the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony and is one of three judges on the show The Face.
