With her Spring 2007 show Thursday at New York Fashion Week, Catherine Malandrino proved that big, puffy tops, billowy sleeves, and gathered bubble skirts can still be sexy. The secret? Plunging necklines and suggestive geometric cutouts adorning slim-fitting dresses and skirts. The sassy French designer—who was previously the head designer at Diane Von Furstenberg—typically excels in everyday urban attire but, like many other shows this week, this one focused mainly on dresses and skirts. I like a few, just because a lot of these would not be flattering on me. I'm short and the anything loose would just make me look stocky. Otherwise, I'm all for the fitted dresses! =)
