It's easy to see why, amid taking on risky acting roles and parenting three children, Reese Witherspoon might need a second to breathe. And her Vogue October cover shoot might've been just the outlet she was looking for. Photographed by Mikael Jansson, the star slipped into romantic dresses from the likes of Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, and Dolce & Gabbana — and her unfaltering energy and determination were felt throughout.
At the same time, Reese appeared completely relaxed, which she confirmed by excitedly discussing her performance in Wild and simply shrugging off the films that forced her to find new direction: "It's not that the roles dried up. They just weren't as dynamic or as interesting as anything I felt I could do," she said.
We couldn't agree more with feature writer Tom Shone when he described the actress: "She carries herself with the same spirit in which someone might complete a set of thank-you notes." Maybe that's why, after Reese had been pigeonholed as the girl next door for so long, it's nice to see her let loose — and we're not just talking about how effortless she looks in those ethereal, floral printed gowns.
But Reese isn't the only one turning up her fashion game this month. Jennifer Garner stuns in Burberry on the cover of InStyle, Gone Girl's Rosamund Pike fronts Glamour in a chic Louis Vuitton and Céline dress pairing, Kate Moss debuts not one but four different covers for AnOther Magazine, and Claire Danes stuns in black and white for Harper's Bazaar UK.
