Oscar de la Renta, one of the world's most iconic fashion designers, died Monday. He was 82 years old.
He had been battling cancer since 2006. Just last week, his fashion house announced that Peter Copping was named creative director.
Known for his romantic, classic American aesthetic, he spent a 50-year career dressing the world's most powerful women from Jacqueline Kennedy to Hillary Clinton and Sarah Jessica Parker to Lea Michele. He even recently made headlines for designing the wedding dress of George Clooney's bride, Amal Alamuddin.
