Continuing my fashion tributes to the late John Hughes's cinema style — Sixteen Candles fans enter here — Pretty in Pink was a modern fairytale. This time, Molly plays Andie, a fashion designing gal from the wrong side of the tracks. She has a secret crush on richie Blane, played by puppy dog faced Andrew McCarthy. The class system creates a wall for love, while Andie's weirdly fabulous friends provide comic and fashion relief. One of my favorite scenes is Duckie's "Try a Little Tenderness" lip sync — classic. And you have to love Steff, James Spader's super douche character, who had mad rich '80s boy style.
