I am a loud person and I like my ring blings. In fact, I have purchased myself a few in order to fulfill my dreams of having them, regardless I will receive more of the same in the future. I sincerely hope that my finance will offer me a super rock but if he does not, I will still be happy b/c I am proud to have used my own $$$ and resources to acquired myself some!!!! :)

I just want a ruby (my name is ruby) and the size of it doesn't matter to me. The fact that he would know that I want a ruby is good enough to make me happy.

I'm not sure I'd like a big rock, mainly because I don't want to be mistaken for having loads of cash.

I would love something proportionate to my small hands. My ex husband didn't give me an engagement ring until 5 1/2 years after we married. He was always a little too late in everything he did where I was concerned! anyways, the man I want to marry now is having a hard time financially so it may not come to pass too soon! oh well!

My engagement ring is .75 carats, which I think is the perfect size for me. The diamond is high quality too, in terms of color and clarity, which I think is more important than the size. The band is very delicate and has tiny diamonds inlaid in it. I adore this ring, and even though I've been wearing it for 9 months now, I still find myself staring at it in wonder! One of my friends has several large diamonds on her engagement ring and several more on her wedding band. It's nice, I guess, but big chunky rings are just not my style.

I could go either way. I don't really like diamonds, but I'm not opposed. Really, I'd like to have different rings for different occasions. Big ones, small ones, plain band, multi-bands... I love rings and I don't want to rely on just one to get me through a lifetime of marriage. Is that weird?

I love big rings! Mine is 3 cts altogether which is about average size. I'm very happy with mine, but diamonds are a girls best friend right? I think any size ring paired up with a nice band can look amazing. And of course a happy marriage is better than anything:)

I'm a romantic at heart, so love definately comes first. But I would love a big diamond - as long as it was conflict free.

I'm undecided. I like big rings, but I don't know if I'd want one -- like another poster said, I'd be so afraid of losing it. And like julieulie said, I too work in a lab and can't sport sharp jewelry under gloves! I'll let the boyfriend's bank account decide!

I'm newly engaged and don't even have a ring, yet! I really don't care much for diamonds, so I've been looking at pearl rings. Very pretty and simple.

i prefer simple but i agree, it doesn't matter how big it is as long as the quality is the best or near best with a color D or E and have a great cut like Tiffany*s. ;)

I prefer the subtle rings, I don't want anything to flashy (it's like wearing a sign rob me) me and my fiance joke about that when we see huge diamonds. my engagement ring is a half carat and it's perfect. I agree with erin and I have my eye on a carat diamond wedding band. It's extremely sparkly and goes with my engagement ring perfectly.

If we are talking engagment rings.. the answer is other. I never want to be married. If we are talking just about rings in general the answer is other again and I only like solid silver rings.

From the looks of it now, I don't think I will ever get a ring big or small. I did believe in fairy tales one time.

"Sometimes, but love comes first." To me, this choice is irrational. Having a coveted engagement ring and deep love are NOT mutually exclusive. A woman can have BOTH. Besides, isn't that the ideal situation? For a woman to have BOTH her dream man and dream ring? Trust me, it's possible. :)

My engagement ring is 1 ct total weight w/ the center princess cut diamond being 1/4 carat. My hands are tiny and anything bigger just looked silly on me. Plus the jewelry store was going out of business and we got a GREAT deal! Sometimes I see women w/ bigger center stones and I feel a little inadequate but I love my ring and more importantly the man who gave it to me!

Not fair...I wanted to chose 'Yes' and 'Sometimes, but love comes first.' I guess I am in conflict with myself. Of course, love always comes first, but I love big diamonds! I think a great compromise if you can't get the big rock is to get something that looks bigger than it is. Pears, for example, can look so much bigger than they are since you could get one that has more surface area and less bulk. Just a thought...

I love big cocktail rings, but I do not like diamonds (I know, shocker, but not only are they to me unoriginal and cliche, but I hate how they are obtained) and I already know that when I get married I am going to try to subtlely drop hints that I want something vintage, maybe with a pearl. not a fan of big engagement rings either; I think it's all about the love...
GlowingMoon GlowingMoon 8 years
Nope, I already have one that's a good size (on me). I have a love affair with quality jewelry, and for me, what's most important in a diamond is how well-cut it is, not it's size. A diamond that's well cut is very sparkling and lively. To me, that's what diamond beauty is all about (not it's size). In fact, a well-cut diamond (due to it's white and colorful sparkles) may appear larger than it's carat size. It has a bigger presence. A poorly cut diamond is very dull, and looks like dead glass. Who cares if it's a big diamond -- it's still ugly. JHMO. Sorry for rambling. This is what happens when I start talking about diamonds. LOL

The bigger, the better. But personally, I have a small 1 ct and it's beautiful.

If we're talking about engagement rings, no thanks. I hate the mentality that someone's engagement is a big deal only if the ring is big enough. You see people with expensive engagement rings and expensive weddings just to end up divorced, sometimes a nasty divorce too.
