Are Platform Heels a 2011 Fashion Don't?

Are Platforms a Fashion Don't For 2011?

What are we to think? Platform shoes were all over the Spring runways, yet three highly respected shoe designers told WWD that platforms are a fashion don't for 2011. Alejandro Ingelmo, who designed floral wedges for Chris Benz, said the top trend for 2011 would be "skinny sophisticated heels," while Tabitha Simmons, Manolo Blahnik, and Bruno Frisoni listed platform heels as a fashion "don't." So now I turn it over to you — do you prefer platforms or stilettos for 2011?

I have no arch in my foot so wearing any kind of heel is very uncomfortable. However, I still love how heels look and I will engage in a three-inch or lower. Still, even this hurts my foot - a platform really helps me because it takes away from the arching of the shoe. So, I really like platforms. As far as trends go, I don't even pay attention. If I like a trend, I wear it; if not, I don't. the problem with shoe trends in particular is that not everyone wants to get on board with the same things. Last year kitten heels were supposedly a trend but tons of people hated them and were very vocak about it. This year will be no different; one source says heels are out and yet you turn around and see them all over. So I won't worry if someone says platforms are out...

Standing at 5'4, platforms have given me the comfort and height I've always wanted! Stilettos are just uncomfortable

I feel more excited about sky high heels with platforms than I do with strapping on my stilettos from 2006. So I'll keep wearing them until something new excites me.

I think platforms are always a DO! At 5'8", I definitely don't need them but I love the way they accentuate calf muscles!!! Urban outfitters has a few good pairs on sale right now and I picked my faves on my blog @

Manolo Blahnik never liked platforms to begin with. I can go either way, platforms make walking on 4+ inch heels more manageable. Wedges have always come in and out of style, but I'm not a fan so I don't wear them. I think with shoes, anything goes.

Sometimes I listen to the trends, others I wear what I like. When it comes to this new rule, I'm just going to wear what I like. I'm also confused because the majority of the shoes that I've seen in Elle, Vogue and Allure's January 2011 issues had platforms.
