Princess Sofia of Sweden gave Kate Middleton a run for her money [1] on Tuesday, as the Swedish royal family hosted the Italian president at a state dinner. Dressed in a look from bridal designer Zetterberg Couture, the princess looked stunning in a full skirt in delicate lace, teamed with a satin top with bracelet sleeves. Since this was a state occasion, she also got to wear a glittering tiara.
There aren't many occasions that bridal wear [2] is an appropriate choice besides an actual wedding, but this is definitely one of the rare occasions when it works. The lace design harkened back to Sofia's own wedding dress [3], which featured long lace sleeves and appliqués, but the shorter hemline, which showed off her satin shoes, gave it a new twist.
