If Marcus Wainwright and David Neville drew inspiration from anyone, we'd guess Kate Moss played peripheral muse to Resort 2014. Touted as "urban romantic," the lineup supplied a noticeably luxurious version of the cool-girl uniform. Sweatshirts were paneled with soft leather patches, colorblocked coats came covered in brushed mohair alpaca, and the brand's iconic ankle boot was countered with a sexy lace-up front and tassel detailing.
The ubiquitous downtown appeal was there — thanks to the return of many recognizable brand hits — but unlike the Spring and Fall collections, Resort skipped the bright jolts of orange and turquoise, and the bold turn to graphic prints, quilting, and houndstooth. Instead, the navy, black, ivory, and burgundy color palette provided a streamlined, subdued mood, allowing for the signature Rag & Bone boy-meets-girl tailoring to shine through. For longtime fans of Neville and Wainwright's work, looking at this collection should feel equal parts familiar and new, and altogether grown-up.
