Richard Chai gives a master class in modern femininity for Spring 2014. This sophisticated lineup isn't the kind that comes buttoned up — who says polished has to be structured? With easy proportions, fluid hemlines, and a runway full of flats, it's certainly not Chai.
Instead, Chai says polished can be a little bold with bright poppy hues making a splashy debut first in stripes, then taking over easy dresses, palazzo pants, and double-breasted jackets. But maybe more integral to this collection, Chai reminds us that polished can feel entirely casual, too. His effortless layers — a breezy tunic or dress thrown over pants and finished with chic flats or strappy heels — is a far more sophisticated alternative to sweatpants or t-shirts, though we suspect it's just as comfortable, too.
