Im wearing a slip right now. I have seen far too many womens underwear especially under white skirts. Unless its denim you can usually see their panties, thong or not. I like slips and I think they are still useful. If you put you hand in the light and under a fabric and you can see your hand clearly, you need a slip. I also like to wear top slips under my white shirts or slightly thin tops. A lot of celebs wouldnt have been cought with their breasts showing if they only had a top slip....and a bra.

I have some dresses and skirts that I feel naked if I dont wear a slip/half slip. Also its nice to get home and take of ur dress but leave a slip on so it gives you that almost naked/pj feel in a second.

For those who asked, half slips and full slips can be found in any department store or lingerie store. Macy's Lord & Taylor's Bloomingdales Nordstroms Neiman Marcus Marshalls virtually any department store in your area should sell them, if not you can buy them on line.

I've always been confused by slips. They don't really improve the line on anything, and unless what you're wearing is 100% sheer, they don't seem too modesty preserving either. Yet my mother and grandmother were always insistent: "You need a slip!" It seemed as absurd as rating a woman's morality by the number of petticoats she wore!

I love, love, love to sleep in slips all summer and never considered them for daytime. Then this summer I found the joy of light, sheer dresses that also happen to be completely see-through such as this one: slips not only cover up the bits but are a light and breezy enough layer for hot days

I've never worn one before, but I've seen some sheer dresses in stores like Urban Outfitters that require you to wear a slip underneath.

I haven't worn one in years, but I recently bought a rather short skirt that requires one. I have no idea where to look for a short half slip, any suggestions?

If you work in any remotely professional job slips are a must with skirts in practically every fabric but wool. I always wear at least a half slip with skirts and dresses if there is even a little bit of sheerness/clingyness to the fabric because I cannot have a client seeing more than they need to!

When the dress/skirt calls for one, I wear one. I think it's a bit trashy otherwise.

I've been walking behind too many tragic girls who wear sheer skirts that maybe look fine in the low lights at home but once they walk outside you can see that they are wearing days of the week underwear Monday on a Wednesday! So I think we need to get this idea that they are unecessary our of our heads.

I admit that I don't get the trend of showing everyone your panties and letting your bra hang out. I think some out fits need a slip and some don't. It has nothing to do with being ladylike, it has to do with whether or not you want people noticing the clothes or the underclothes.

If the dress is tight or see-through I wear a slip. Plus, they help smooth over more than panty lines. :P

I always wear a nude half slip with a sheer dress or skirt. I just bought one from spanx that works perfectly because it doesn't make the skirt/dress bulky or leave lines which is the disadvantage of slips. I got it on sale at the current Nordstrom's anniversary sale.

i actually wore a slip yesterday! i only have it though bc it came with a sheer dress that i bought a few years ago. but it has come in handy under other dresses bc it's really short so i don't have to worry about the length (it barely covers my butt). it's see-through, black, and short so it's still sexy which is a plus. needless to say i love my slip! :)

Speaking as someone who used to work in fashion, it all depends on what you are wearing. Now, common sense dictates (and you don't have to be a fashion expert to know this) if your dress is sheer or clingy, then YES YOU DO NEED A SLIP! I work in NYC and everyday I will see a couple women walking down the street and it is POINT BLANK OBVIOUS that they either A) have no underwear on underneath or B) they are wearing a thong. Thongs may be worn to prevent panty lines, but slips are worn to avoid seeing panty lines AND BODY CREVICES. I don't understand how some people can leave the house without a slip on and the dress they are wearing is see-through or you can see the outline of their thong or underwear. That is not sexy or chic or trendy - it is TACKY. That is what "slips" are used for. Then again, I also don't understand how people wear dark underwear under white clothes either. Go figure! SO, yeah, "slips" should be in everyone's wardrobe - at least the half slips. Buy a beige half slip in a short length and it will make your clothes fall better, look better and a lot more classier too.
