Smashing Grandpa Imperial Sweatshirt: Love It or Hate It?

Once in a while a fashion item comes along that is just trying to incorporate too many trends into one thing. This Smashing Grandpa Imperial Sweatshirt is a perfect example. Part sporty sweatshirt, part military jacket, completely confusing. This was found by justjaime27 in the Love It or Hate It? suite. Thanks justjaime27! What are your guys' thoughts? Love or hate? This jacket is on sale for $148 and available here.

i know i'm a few years late in posting, but if anyone is familiar with smashing grandpa's history (at least it's creator, leslie gardner), it's very deeply involved in rocknroll history (in the making!)... i'm sure ms. gardner completely had an updated vision of the beatles' sergeant pepper's lonely hearts club band uniform in mind! i actually really love it- especially the brown one, where the details contrast nicely... i can see this worn on a cool autumn evening, over a huge, amazing tulle skirt, some bright tights, and rocknroll black leather boots wandering around some crazy concert in the urban bohemian neighborhoods of nyc, new orleans, mexico city, london, even riot-grrrL'ing it in olympia washington, etc...... ohsofabfabfab!! <3

Kind of reminds me of Edward Scissorhands' top! The brown one would be pretty without the Imperial stuff on the front and I love the jeans!

Bluejeanie, I think you might be right! :) Still not sure about it, but I can definitely picture what you're talking about! :) Oh, and also, I love your icon. Is that from the movie, "The Last Unicorn"? That was one of my childhood favorites!!!!

i'm not sure how i feel about these....they're awfully funky and i'm definately pro-funky. but, they might be a little fug for me. i'm part of the anti-fug agenda. does it zip or do you have to fiddle with all those buttons. it might be fun with some ripped jeans and crazy hair.

The black one might be cute if it wasn't trying so hard. I kind of like it, in a Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band kind of way.

lol Hey thanks, B.B.! :) Oh, I'm laughing so hard over this top...I feel bad, because you can't blame the creator...I mean, there are all different forms of art, and well, I think we should just appreciate this top as, well, art. :)

Ha ha, hey thanks for the recognition, however I'm suprised you posted this! lol I personally, am not a fan of this...but I found it to be unique, so figured, who knows...maybe it IS fashionable and I'm just not "hip". lol But then I looked at it again, and as hard as I'm TRYING to find something about this shirt to like, I just can't do it. It reminds me of a straight But thanks for posting it, that was sweet! :) Have a great day everyone!!! Happy fab finding! -Jaime
