Everything I Want From the November Something Navy Nordstrom Drop and Why

Nov 14 2018 - 10:05am

Take a deep breath, get your fingers stretched, and put your work emails on silent. Something Navy's November Nordstrom drop is here. And according to, well, me, it's topped the previous enviable collections.

The assortment is focused on day-to-night outfits. You know, those dresses that you can wear to work with a blazer and at 6 p.m. take said blazer off, put sparkly earrings on, and voilà! You're good to go. As a result, you'll find pieces that are easily interchangeable for multiple events, ensuring you get the most bang for your buck.

And while there is definite consistency throughout each drop (don't panic — there are still supercozy sweaters and enough poofy sleeves to last you a lifetime), this drop appears to be the most elevated yet. Using materials like leather and faux fur and investing in more embellishments than ever, I am giving this less than 48 hours before the entire range sells out.

Here are the pieces I'm coveting and why each are fashion-editor approved.

Faux Leather Puffer

This Faux Leather Puffer [1] ($259) has made a few appearances on social media over the past few weeks (we're looking at you, Lainy Hedaya [2]'s Instragram Stories!). I've long debated the chicness factor [3] of the puffer coat, but the material and color of this one end that debate. This is the fancy puffer of my dreams.

Puff Sleeve Sweater

The first thing I bought from Something Navy's collection was the Full Sleeve Button Shirt [4]. It reminded me of a simpler, more work-appropriate version of all the beautiful Ulla Johnson and Zimmermann puffy floral shirts I ogled over this past Summer. To see it in sweater form is a pleasure, especially in this delicate pink seashell color. The Puff Sleeve Sweater [5] ($89) also comes in navy, orange, and brown. And I want one of each. Except for orange. Orange washes me out.

Something Navy Rhinestone Chandelier Earrings

Whether you're a minimalist or a maximalist, these Rhinestone Chandelier Earrings [6] ($29) are the perfect statement accessory. I will wear them pared back with jeans and a tee-shirt. My sister will steal them from me and wear them to a black-tie event.

Long Sherpa Coat

Fact: my favorite brand in the whole wide world is designed by Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen [7]. Another fact: I can't afford it. This Long Sherpa Coat [8] ($199), which comes in this beautiful ivory color as well as a gray, I can actually buy and get the same simple, minimal appeal. Plus, faux fur!

Snamado Loafer

One of my favorite things about Something Navy is her use of crowdsourcing. When she's developing her Nordstrom collection, she and her team always ask fans (like me) questions about color, fit, material . . . I remember this Summer being asked loafer-related questions. And based on the look of the Snamado Loafers [9] ($100), they listened.

Jewel Deco Cable Sweater

This sweater reminds me of a cozy classic cable knit that went to a disco party. Sometimes the only thing I want to put on during the Winter is sweatpants. This Jewel Deco Cable Sweater [10] ($95) has the comfort of a sweatshirt/sweatpant situation but the fanciness needed to look like you cared when you were getting dressed.

Snmia Tall Boot

I do not know how they were able to price the Snmia Tall Boot [11] ($160) at under $200. This is the most expensive-looking boot I've seen in a while, and I love the attention to details: the suede-wrapped heel, the proportion of the fold-over cuff . . .

Double Breasted Leather Coat

This Double Breasted Leather Coat [12] ($399) is another item I have seen on Instagram over the past month that I've been eyeing. A traditional leather trench like this typically runs you upward of $1,000 but looks exactly the same as this one, priced at $399.
