During the Spring 2013 runway season, there were several common trends that I saw from my favorite designers' shows that can be easily incorporated in our daily looks. Here are some of my favorites!
Black and White
So many designers incorporated looks that went down the runway in black and white. The best part about this black-and-white trend is that there are endless possibilities. You can try black-and-white prints such as striped pants ($69) or even apply it to footwear! Check out these two-toned sandals ($175).
Lanvin, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, and Céline had some great suits walking down the runway, both masculine and feminine. The thing about suits is that you can dress them up or dress them down and don't always have to wear a matching blazer and pants — short suits work too! One shortcut is to mix and match pieces in the same palette. You can try a monochromatic look, like pairing this red Aryn K. Tuxedo Blazer ($99) with red Joie shorts ($138) or mixing different colors and patterns, like with this bright Willow & Clay Pop Blazer ($74) with these striped shorts from Joie ($178).
Leather was everywhere this year and definitely one of the strongest trends this season. It was seen in so many different textures and colors and was more lightweight compared to the traditional leather. From sporty leather shorts from Lucca Couture ($89) to my favorite bright leather jacket from Theory ($845), there's such a variety of leather garments available this season. My shortcut to styling leather is to pair with lightweight pieces for warmer days and go with neutral tones like on this Tinley Road Vegan Leather Tee ($69).
