Everything We're Shopping This August, We Know We'll Wear Well Into Fall

Aug 23 2016 - 4:30am

Of course we shop in August, we just shop wisely. Bear in mind, the end of the month marks a transitional season and the eventual start of Fashion Week [1]. That means we're searching for stylish pieces lightweight enough for those final walks on the beach and versatile enough to layer later on. Fresh "It" items, must-have dress and shirt silhouettes, and accessories we've been eyeing forever all made the cut this time. Read on for our lust-worthy picks.

"My main goal for the rest of Summer? Keep things as simple and easy as possible, especially when it comes to footwear. So I'm ditching my lace-up options for Everlane's The Slide Sandal [2] ($98), the perfect no-fuss shoe [3] to slip on and rock with everything." — Samantha Sutton, assistant editor, Fashion

"A slouchy sweater I can live in with white jeans through September is on my short list of perfect pieces. There's nothing better than finding a knit with just the right amount of give that hangs effortlessly on your body, plus this Tibi sweater [4] ($395) comes with a subtly sexy cutout." — Hannah Weil McKinley, senior editor, Fashion

"I've been eyeing this Sarah's Bag clutch [5] ($582) for the longest time, and not just because the brand and I share the same name. Everyone knows that mermaids are my spirit animal and I totally love a cocktail on the beach. I'd wear this year round, but there's no buy more appropriate for hanging onto Summer a little longer." — Sarah Wasilak, editor, Fashion

"My sneaker obsession knows no bounds. Now I've fallen for the bright color and brilliant design of these Allbirds wool runners [6] ($95). I love that they're new and smart, and mostly, that they're not exactly what everyone else is wearing." — HWM

"Thanks to Gigi Hadid, monogram clothing [7] has found a place in everyone's closets this Summer. While the model prefers a bomber or leather piece [8], I am lusting after the Rails denim jacket [9] ($275)." — Marina Liao, editorial assistant

"Drop earrings are a power woman favorite, which means it's time to replace my everyday studs with Alexis Bittar's Encrusted Spear Earring With Infinity Wire [10] ($175) — at least on occasion." — SS

"Chloé just rolled out its boho-inspired Carlina sunglasses [11] ($326) in a limited edition 18k gold, available in boutiques this month. But that's not the only detail that makes them covetable. I'm pretty smitten by the free-spirited quote that accompanies your package upon arrival." — SW

"Wearing Fall clothes in the middle of Summer [12] may sound silly to some, but when a dress is as cute as this throw-on-and-go sweater dress from Finders Keepers [13] ($150), how can I resist?" — SS

"While I normally don't wear belts, when I spotted the Bri Bri Belt [14] ($148), it instantly reminded me of the one Kendall Jenner wore [15]. My high-waisted denim shorts always felt like they were missing something and this accessory will solve the problem." — ML

"Have a wedding coming up [16]? No biggie. Why not just design your dress — and at an affordable price. Fame and Partners just launched a customizable line with fashion-forward, daytime silhouettes you'll actually go to bed dreaming about. My select? The Cenit Two Piece [17] ($379), which I’ll wear to an October wedding in Florida when it's still warm." — SW

"Missguided's Drop Armhole Bodysuit [18] ($24) is the same concept as the side-boob swimsuit [19] only I'll be able to wear anywhere, not just by the pool. Plus, it's the perfect piece to help me embrace my new braless lifestyle [20]." — SS

"Why decide between a choker and a long chain? Stella McCartney's sleek design [21] ($485) combines both beautifully and simply. No bells and whistles, just a wear-anywhere piece that'll complement breezy dresses, and even your favorite jeans and t-shirts." — HWM

"Put me in anything silky and I will drift off to a peaceful sleep. This satin cami and shorts set [22] ($43) is my trick to staying cool in bed for Summer. The lightweight fabric won't cling to your body and it looks sexy too." — ML

"You can tell me the Reformation Mesa pant [23] ($178) is boring, but just check out that frill at the bottom. In a flattering black shade, I can already tell the high-waist silhouette will give my booty a boost. Plus, these are cropped perfectly for my petite frame." — SW

"I love white t-shirts and this one from Pixie Market [24] ($78) is especially unique — just check out the back. The ribbon bow gives the otherwise plain top that special touch. Consider this piece already part of my weekly rotation." — ML

"The contemporary classics from new label La Ligne are all wardrobe essentials, but this month, I'm eyeing the easy, elegant Pipeline pants [25] ($275) to style with silky tanks in the office for the rest of Summer." — HWM

"Denim skirts may be having a moment, but I'm not a big fan of distressed and frayed styles, which could come across as juvenile. Instead, I'm adding McGuire's Marino denim skirt [26] ($220) to my cart, aka the polished and adult way to embrace the trend." — SS

"Dear Frances is a supermodel footwear staple. But while Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid rock their mid-calf, I'm a fan of the Float [27] ($495). The Chelsea silhouette is unbelievably versatile, and I'm into the wood and lucite combination heel." — SW

"Sticking true to its minimalist style, Mansur Gavriel has come out with a new collection dubbed the Mini Sun Bag [28] ($595). The crossbody accessory is the perfect size for holding all your basic necessities, and I'm predicting this will sell out as quickly as the brand's iconic bucket bags." — ML
