As soon as I walked into the preview for Target's new women's brand, Prologue, I was drawn to this black faux-leather dress. It was pulling me in, and I had no choice but to go to it, touch it, imagine all the ways I could style it (with heels for date night sans tee, or layered over a turtleneck with tall boots for the inevitable temperature drop [1]). I fell in love with it while other editors were "ooh"-ing and "ahh"-ing over the long ivory shag vest. These basics are good, mostly because they all fit right into a well-curated Fall 2018 wardrobe [2], but they can also be layered and manipulated to construct a very trendy outfit should you want to go that route.
