Tory Burch's Fall Collection Is For the Sporty Girl — Who's Still a Little Preppy, Too

Feb 16 2016 - 8:40am

We rely on Tory Burch for polished outfits that are finished with preppy little details — the Reva ballerina flat, a silk scarf, or a color-coordinated bag that's adorned with a tassel. But the message behind Tory's sporty Fall '16 collection [1]: loosen up and live a little.

The designer took influence from horseback riding, infusing her line with equestrian details. In fact, the final look wasn't an evening dress, but a pair of white riding pants and a quilted bomber jacket.

Meanwhile, athleisure was felt in other ways, too. Slouchy separates splashed with geometric prints were a playful spin on the tracksuit and a call to attention: get up and get going. But of course, our favorite detail had to be the fact that these striped sweats were met with patent leather loafers — a signature Tory move, adding a touch of sophistication.

Finally, there was a slight '70s influence from breezy maxis, cropped, wide-leg denim, and furling coats, one worthy of Penny Lane. Set to Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," there's no denying this well-rounded collection is complete with something for everyone.
