Ungaro Taps Lindsay Lohan as Artistic Advisor

Lindsay Lohan Takes the Reins at Ungaro

Wow, the rumors were true. Promptly following Esteban Cortazar's exit from Ungaro, the fashion house has tapped Lindsay Lohan as its artistic adviser, alongside new chief designer Estrella Archs. Apparently, Ungaro's chief executive, Mounir Moufarrige, was looking to add excitement to the brand, and no doubt hiring Lindsay has definitely caught everyone's attention. "Odds are it could work," said Moufarrige. “I think the noise level around Lindsay will be very, very big." Lohan and Archs are set to debut their first collection for Ungaro at Paris Fashion Week in October. Thoughts?

This is nothing short of disgusting news! I won't feel sad now when the label folds. To humour a washed up loser like Lohan with the title "artistic advisor" (PR speak or not, it's an insult to the designer she'll be "working with") and then expect people with taste to shell out a small fortune for anything that smacks of her aesthetic output is just ludicrous. Good on Esteban Cortazar for walking, and shame on the Ungaro management for choosing noise over talent.

Well, good luck to Ungaro. And to Lindsay, possibly.

I like Lindsey Lohan's style. I don't know anything about Ungaro though, so I can't say if it's a bad move or not.

The girl wears leggings as a "fashion statement" 99.9% of the time. Whadda joke. Poor Ungaro must be desperate--a hail mary if I ever did see one.

This is a very bad move, everything that this girl touches she destroys. Think about it, the last movies she's been on where big failures. I don't think she has many fans left and she is not longer an A lister.

Ungaro was teetering on the brink of bankruptcy to begin with, but here was hope when Cortazar joined. Well, Lohan ruined that one (and good for Cortazar for leaving over this!). At this point, the company really has nothing to lose. It's a sinking ship.

Really? I have always loved Ungaro. I don't think this is a good move.

First of all, she's not 'taking the reins.' Her interaction will consist of a few meetings with the designers where she chooses outfits for public appearances. "Artistic Adviser" is PR-speak for brand ambassador.

I don't think the is the level of excitement and attention the brand wants. They'll get more negative attention out of this than any positive. For starters, all the celebs that already wore Ungaro and like Cortazar? Will they really continue to wear the brand now? I have a hard time believing this was a good move for the Ungaro brand. Nothing about Lindsay Lohan is positive these days.

*groan* Lohan said, "“I want it to be simple and easy. I really think less is more — and you can add on more with accessories.” If what she has worn in the past is any indication, basically this means hotshorts, skimpy sheer tops (all the better to show off any droopy sideboob action) with "a lot of fluidity and a lot of color". Ungaro chose this washed up has-been over Esteban Cortazar?? Sad.
