United Nude Metallic Leather Pumps: Love It or Hate It?

Marc Jacobs created one strange shoe for his Spring 2008 collection, but that doesn't mean it should be translated onto the streets. United Nude's Metallic Leather Pumps ($148, originally $236) have the same inverted heel as Marc's version. I would never dare walk a mile (or even an inch) in these shoes; they're unsafe and unstylish. Are you with me?

Note to the author of the article. I like it. I LOVE it the fact you could inspire so many people to be so passionate about a pair of shoes!

Well...I didn't read ALL the comments but seeing there are 50 and NOBODY officially "Liked this" at this point in time I suppose there is the answer. I think it is hilarious that someone who isn't brave enough to post on some article about shoes with their real sign-on and use "Anonymous" instead and then declare people should shut up about a pair of shoes is remarkable. Yeah...we should listen to the Anonymous screamer? Hardly. The shoes? Part of me is scrambling to think of an outfit and occasion where I might wear them just to make people galk at them. I would NEVER pay that much for them. Maybe $30? In my collection of over 70 shoes I do not own one single pair of a Lucite shoes....so I agree with the hooker comment about Lucite...so nope...not even for $30. Are they comfortable or safe? Most stylist shoes aren't....yet we wear them anyway. It is the price of style. I Do have one pair of black strappy sandals that have a wooden/black inverted heel like this and I get woman asking me constantly where they can get them. Are they safe? Safer than my three inch Stilettos.

I really like the surrealist effect but I wonder if you could even walk in them...

They just look too weird, in fact when I saw the picture I had to look twice, I couldn't believe they actually made a shoe like that.

Agree with girlfriday about the rolling furniture. I was just telling to myself it looks like the rolling chair in my bedroom hahah!

They don't look very safe or comfortable. All the pressure would be on the ball and arch of the foot - I can't imagine how it wouldn't be painful just to stand. The "heels" remind me of the metal wheels one finds on rolling furniture (bed frames and the like). Not cute imho.

I don't like these inverted heels in particular, but I loooooooove the design of the inverted heel. It's like Martin Margiela's split-toed shoes (which I don't like) - you either love them or hate them. I think the inverted heel is a lovely way to work avant garde fashion into your daily life. If they were unsafe to walk in, they probably wouldn't be sold, and as previously mentioned it doesn't seem any different than walking on a hollowed out wedge. The design is shocking but tasteful, unexpected but chic. I love Marc's.

The heel looks like the bottom of a cheap metal chair. Ugly.

It look creepy to me!

I I think they'd be as easy to walk in as a wedge- so the safety factor doesn't bother me. But........ they are ugly as sin.

I truly wonder about the comfort of these shoes...the sort of remind me of a hollowed out wedge.

i'm curious. i don't wear enough heels to buy them, i'm afraid i'd get them like.. stuck on something (i have trouble with heels too... with cords and chairs... i mean i fall over in kitten heels) but they are neat. i like them better than marc jacobs inverted heel.

I love the color but not sure about the concept. I would have to try them on. I think I would feel unbalanced and fear of injury in these.

I like the color, but kinda scared to rock that heel....

Yes wiil205, they're very comfortable, and it's easier to walk in them than in many other shoes...:)

you guys are so closed minded... that heel is unique without being a gaudy over kill.. I'd love to rock that shoe b/c no one else has it... and I would look fab in it!
