Viktor & Rolf, the Dutch guardian of avant-garde and experimental fashion, has added a stand-alone bridal collection to its Resort 2014 offering. It's called, quite simply, Marriage, and it features six styles that aren't geared toward traditional brides.
There is, for example, a silk crepe de chine shirtdress whose tail becomes a floor-length train and a sleeveless jumpsuit with an open back. The other dresses also feature unconventional details, like tiers of irregular pleating. The designers even subverted bows, using them to fill up the back of one of the gowns in this collection.
"We've always loved designing bridal wear because a wedding dress is a garment with a lot of meaning and emotions attached to it," the designers told Vogue UK. "The wedding dress is the ultimate clothing icon."
