When it comes to fashion, I'd say my boyfriend is fairly knowledgeable [1]: he reads men's publications, he takes style cues from his favorite shows, and, of course, he's dating a woman who works in the industry. But the one thing I really can't get over? His love of supersimple style [2]. When he says likes an outfit, it's typically something "basic" — no frills, not too trendy, and the exact opposite of anything statement-making and accessorized [3] that I tend to gravitate toward.
So naturally, I wanted to know his opinion of some of Summer's most classic pieces, from maxi dresses to striped shirts [4]. Would he be on board with the tried and true? Would he suggest to replace it with something over the top? Read his responses — the good, the confusing, and the funny — ahead.

Bikinis vs. One-Pieces
