I enjoy compliments from both men and women. A compliment from a guy usually makes me feel attractive, but a compliment from another woman is nice because it let's me know that I'm approachable. I don't want to give off a biotch vibe that prevents friendships.

I didn't mean I FAKE compliments. I genuinely mean what I say, but it just seems like courtesy to compliment a female friend when you see her... It's not like I'm one of the MEAN GIRLS: "Cute skirt... that is the ugliest effing skirt I've ever seen in my entire life". Nothing like that! I'd definitely tell a friend if she should change an outfit or accessory!

"Someone I admire, whose opinion I respect, either male or female." I agree with this!

Compliments from either are great. Coming from a woman, its like a little validation, and coming from a man, its a bit of a confidence boost.

Both! Guy compliments are ego boosting in general, but girl compliments usually like highlight one great part of your outfit or something so that's always relly nice that they paid attention to something you paid attention to.

i love getting compliments from my boyfriend and usually in the form of "woooow" or a suprised "holy shit" stare. makes me feel all pretty and whatnot. :) but if it's just any old guy and they notice an accessory (not the standard "your boobs are HUGE"), that makes much more of an impression. and i don't normally compliment girls unless i really mean it so i hope that they do the same for me!

I feel like compliments from females aren't as genuine... maybe that's just because anytime I see fun into a friend out or something I pick something to compliment... "oh, I love your top" just cuz it's sounds nice. Compliments from guys seem more genuine... "your hair smells really good today". It nice to know they notice the small stuff you don't expect them to. I expect the girls to love my top, but I don't expect the guys to appreciate that kind of thing. It always catches me off guard.

Either way I'd rather get complimented on my intelligence or humor rather than my looks ;). It's much more important to me!

Both. It shows respect from a woman; from a guy it shows admiration. It just has to be a sincere compliment, not a Mean Girl attack from a woman or a pick-up line from a man.

It really depends on the situation and what do I need to be complimented about. Sometimes when I wear something really short (hot pants or mini) I prefer compliments from my female friends. Just because I know they're not having various ideas on what would they do, you know what I mean ;)

Rather a male of course ;)

I agree with SFKitkat! I think it's much more meaningful when it comes from someone you admire.
