We Just Really Love Billy Porter For Rocking the Hell Out of This Umbrella Hat at the AMAs

Despite the incessant sunshine in Los Angeles, Billy Porter was adequately prepared for any potential weather changes at the American Music Awards on Sunday. The Pose star showed off his penchant for statement-making red carpet moments when he strolled up to Microsoft Theater wearing a giant umbrella hat, seemingly ready to be cast as an extra in Lady Gaga's "Rain on Me" music video. A straight-off-the-runway look from Botter's spring 2022 collection, his outfit consisted of a bright blue suit featuring a keyhole cutout and a black headband with a slightly askew matching umbrella attached. With help from stylists Ty Hunter and Colin Anderson, Billy accessorized with black platform boots by Syro and a collection of glitzy rings by Dena Kemp, Lillian Shalom, and H.Crowne.

Unexpected headgear is somewhat of a red carpet fashion staple for the Cinderella actor. We're personally still not over the dazzling lampshade hat (featuring motorized, retractable fringe!) he wore to the 2020 Grammys or that checkmark-shaped Western hat he rocked at the 2019 Emmys. We've gotta hand it to him: he's nothing if not dedicated to the cause! Read ahead to take an all-angles look at Billy giving a hypothetical middle finger to that whole "opening umbrellas indoors gives you bad luck" adage as he walked the red carpet and presented on stage at the AMAs.
