Carey Mulligan [1]'s latest award-show look came with a striking silhouette. The Promising Young Woman actress [2] appeared during the 2021 SAG Awards [3] on Sunday wearing a custom satin Prada outfit consisting of a black floor-length skirt and a cream apron — a very high-fashion apron featuring subtle ruching at the sides and an open back with a bow at the waist.

Apron dresses aren't commonly seen at award shows, although this one does conjure up comparisons to the red Dior dress Emma Watson [4] famously layered over pants at the 2014 Golden Globes [5], as well as Alicia Vikander's pleated Louis Vuitton dress at the 2016 Golden Globes [6]. Styled by Nicky Yates, Carey's outfit was paired with black satin sandals and emerald earrings and a matching ring by Cartier. After being delightfully surprised by this look, we can't wait to see what she wears to the Oscars on April 25.
