The Checkered Pant Trend Is Making Us Rethink Our Wardrobes

I've never been a fan of trousers, but this checkered-print trend has me second guessing myself. Since I've been living in my sweatpants, I haven't been feeling particularly inspired to dress up or even think about wearing real pants. While I've been seeing the checkered print absolutely everywhere this year (shoutout to my fave KJ Plumb, who's created some of the most famous prints you've seen all over Instagram), I decided that it's time to cave.

I particularly love that the quirky gingham print makes me feel nostalgic for early 2000s styles — which have their roots in the '50s and '60s — and a lot of the pants come in bold colors like neon green, cherry red, and baby blue. Most of the trousers also come in a wide-leg silhouette and feature a high-waist, making your legs look longer. I also love the fact that you can wear them during any season, and it's fun to wear them in the winter if you're looking for a splash of color to brighten up your mood when it's gloomy outside. If you're not sure how to style the pants, we've turned to our favorite style stars to lend you a helping hand. Scroll on to see how it's done and shop our favorite selects too.
