Daisy Edgar-Jones [1]'s corset dress verged on lingerie at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 10. Surrounded by stars in Barbie-pink dresses [2] and sequins [3], the "Under the Banner of Heaven [4]" star walked the red carpet in a black corset dress with sheer hip cutouts by Gucci. Letting the dazzling ensemble speak for itself, Edgar-Jones kept her accessories simple, opting for diamond earrings and silver rings.
The sleeveless dress — which Edgar-Jones said was a tribute to Wednesday Addams [5] — featured spaghetti straps and a mermaid silhouette. The bust of the dress was embellished with floral lace accented by sequins. The dress plunged into a deep V with sheer cutouts along the hips.
Below the waist, the dress transformed into a floor-length skirt with tiered ruffles. At the back, the sheer cutouts plunged to offer a glimpse at the underlying white corset bodice. A cross between lingerie and formalwear, the finished evening gown was certainly a romantic nod to Addams and her style.
Since the Netflix show made its debut on Nov. 23, celebrities have been quick to re-create Wednesday's aesthetic. On Jan. 4, Kylie Jenner went out for the night in a shredded black denim dress, paired with vampiric lipstick and bleached eyebrows [6]. Similarly, the corset trend [7] has been taking over the red carpet for months with celebrities like Olivia Rodrigo [8] and Camila Mendes [9] sporting the style well into the fall and winter seasons.
