Gucci Brings Us That '70s Fashion Show
If the Gucci runway last season was all about the mod '60s, it makes sense that the fashion house has progressed to the swinging '70s for Spring 2015. Retro silhouettes, patchwork designs, and colored suede (already shaping up to be a key trend) were just some of the stylistic nods to the oft-referenced decade.
Another? Denim in all forms, from lace-up dresses to a double-breasted military jacket. Ultrawide cropped denim trousers made us wonder if Creative Director Frida Giannini is not-so-subtly hinting that we should pack away our skinny jeans for good. The earthy colors – scarlets, grassy greens, and emerald blues – and textures did give way to a ladylike chinoiserie print on dresses with sequined waistbands, which added some polish to an otherwise ultrabohemian, especially easy, strictly '70s lineup.
