To say I'm inspired by the style in Harry Styles's new "Watermelon Sugar" music video [1] would be downplaying my obsession. Because I have honestly spent the last two hours thinking about and searching for retro-inspired swimwear [2] similar to the designs seen across Harry's beach here. Gingham apple prints! High-waist briefs with little bows! Mix-and-match floral and stripe patterns! Crochet! The options are endless when it comes to choosing a favorite '70s-inspired style, and I don't even want to choose a favorite — I just want to shop all of these playful, kitschy designs until my swim drawer [3] explodes. Can you blame me?
I'd love to know where the costume stylist for Harry's video picked up the adorable two-pieces and monokinis, some of which come with matching cover-ups or beach pants, but I also love that this video [4] has probably sent tons of people shopping for old-school swim silhouettes on a week day, because we could all use a welcome distraction right about now.
